DTI-Sorsogon Opens Products Center

DTI Usec Merly Cruz & RD Joy Blanco at Launch of Sorsogon Pasalubong Shop

More than 400 participants from Bicol attended the DTI’s Work-On-Wheels (WOW) Caravan held at the Aemilianum College in Sorsogon City.  DTI-RODG Usec Merly Cruz and CEO Rene Navarrete of CIP graced the event.  The DTI-Sorsogon Provincial Office headed by PD Leah Pagao spearheaded the Caravan.  The 2-day event featured awarding of ISO Certification to DTI-5; awarding of PCPS computers to selected public schools; awarding of SB checks to SMEs; launch of the Sorsogon Pasalubong Shop; “Todo-Diskwento” on selected commodities from participating companies and a press conference.

The main activities of the event consisted of simultaneous break-up groups with SME participants in the NEGOSem Basics, Franchising Forum, Credit Sourcing, Business Plan Preparation, Food Safety/GMP Seminar, Packaging & Labelling among others.  Competent guests/ speakers from PTTC, BSMED, and Phil. Franchise Association conducted the various seminars. Testimonials of successful entrepreneurs were also featured.

Sorsogon City Mayor, Hon. Leovic Dioneda welcomed the guests and participants. PD Leah Pagao gave an overview and acknowledged the participants and RD Joy Blanco delivered the opening remarks.  Messages were given by Mrs. Sally Lee, CEO Rene Navarrete and Usec Merly Cruz who inspired and lauded the participating SMEs for their very active entrepreneurial endeavors.

The successful conduct of WOW Caravan is another milestone in our continuing efforts to champion business and consumers in Bicol.
